Mama Mia Movie Review

Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan leads an all-star cast in this film version of the well loved musical that captivated millions of people around the world. This Summer of 2008 brings the timeless lyrics and melodies of well loved super group ABBA in the big screen under the title Mama Mia.

The movie is produced by Judy Craymer, written Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Llyod. They are same three that created the smash stage hit of Mama Mia and now has brought it to the big screen.

Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard , Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper join Meryl Streep in this comic movie about a mother, her daughter, and three possible fathers.

A single mother and hotel owner Donna ( Streep ) is about to let go of her spirited daughter Sophie ( Amanda Seyfried ). For the wedding Donna has invited her three best friends and former band mates, Rosie ( Julie Walters ) the an author of best selling cook book and wealthy, sexy, multi-divorce Tanya ( Christine Baranski ). Unknown to Donna, Sophie has also invited three men from Donna’s past in hopes that she will finally find answer to the big question that has astonished her through the years, who is her father? And have him walk her to the aisle. With an amazing song and dance moves base on the well love music from ABBA from “ Money, Money, Money “, “ Dancing Queen “ to “ The winner takes it all “ and “ I had a dream “ this movie which was set on a beautiful Greek island over the majestic Mediterranean back ground will celebrate the glories of possibilities, acceptance, and love between mother and daughter, friends and new family the audience around the world will enjoy.

Violet Sanford has a dream of becoming a songwriter, but she was lack of confidence and determination.

When she finally decided to pursue her dream, she moved to New York and leave her dad(Bill Sanford) who was willing to support her all the way. Reaching the big city, she eventually got a job in a nightclub as a bar maid which she hide from her father. While taking her adventures in the big city, she's also busy composing her songs and having a hard time finishing it. She was in a bit trouble finishing her demo tape in order the world notice her songs.

Violet learned ropes of singing, dancing, and performing wild acts in a rowdy crowd while working on a bar named Coyote Ugly which she can eventually use in her future auditions.
Along her ventures, she met her love interest, Kevin O'Donnell, which later on helped her to achieve all of her goals in life. Kevin is her inspiration that enables her to finish her demo tape. Kevin also is the one, who introduce her or set her in an audition but sadly Violet wasn't able to reach the audition due to too much people in the bar, Maria(the owner) not allowing her to leave. At the very the same day, she was caught by her father dancing wild on the bar counter making her father think that she was a prostitute. Having a misunderstanding with her dad and boyfriend made her world like a disaster. Because of the great explanation everything sets in place. Now, Violet is her way in reaching her dreams, moving to the audition even without Kevin. While she was on stage, Viloet's shyness seems to come and almost quit when Kevin suddenly came and close the lights for a better start for Violet. The audition is successful making her famous and a songwriter of the famous singers like Leann Rimes.

Save the Last Dance

"The Only Person You Need To Be Is Yourself."

Save the Last Dance is one of the best drama romance I've ever seen. The movie starred by Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas was influeced by great dance steps with the good combination of modern hip hop and ballet dance. Viewers loved this movie as this show the true meaning of love despite of all the odds and discrimination surrounding them.

Julia playing the role of Sara Johnson, a promising high school dancer who has a great passion in a ballet. In order to fulfill her dreams, Sara auditioned in a ballet dance in order to be study at Juilliard. On the day of the audition, Sara failed and the worst thing is she discovered that her mom died in car accident while in a rush to see her in the audition as a promise. Sarah blame her self for what happened and decided to stop and give up her dreams to become a ballerina.

She moves in with her father in Chicago as she trying to moved on. With her new place there it comes her new school where she is the only white girl in the whole school. She quickly found comapnion with Chenille(Kerry Washington). Black girls love parties and Chenille invited Sarah to a dance clun(STEPS) where she met Chenille's brother, Derek Reynolds(Sean Patrick Thomas). Sarah at first having a hard time dancing with hip hop as that is her first time to dance hip hop rhythms. Derek as a solution helped Sarah so whenever they come back to the club the people their would be amazed with their dance steps. As a good dancer, the two took practice abandoned warehouses and do some good combination of ballet and hip hop. Through this, the two become close and fell with each other which is a big no no among their schoolmates. Black man is only for black man, the racism is their school whick make their relationship hassle. Sarah opened everything to Derek, from the death of her mother to her dreams to enter to Julliard. Derek achieved hs dreams to be Georgetown Medical School and wanted Sara to the same way, to do what she really wnats and continue her dreams to become a ballerina. Its not tht easy to convince Sara as Ballet only reminds her the death of her mother.

When everything seems to be perfect the two broke up because of the people surrounds them. Sarah continue her audition to Julliard despite of the absence of Derek. Sara almost quit when Derek arrives into the audition which makes the audition successful. They later celebrate on STEPS as a celebration for the successful auditioned.
